As #MoreWorkComingSoon took a bit of a hiatus, we are back with more work through a new project titled "Lessons for the World" in which these photos will carry knowledge, insight, and lessons to be shared with the World. The purpose of Lessons for the World is to show how many responses or insights we can have for the questions we share; all pertaining to the curiosity found within us all.

Today's #LessonsForTheWorld session features Brendan Oh a dear friend I was lucky to cross paths with while working at the same office, is a true human gem. Even though you are moving I am so thankful for the time we were able to spend together. I wish you the absolute best & hope to see you when you come to visit!

Do You Believe In Fate?

"I believe some things are fated. Just by the way your energy is throughout your whole life, you’re bound to attract certain things. So fate is something, but I don’t believe in destiny. I don’t think that anyone has this ultimate timeline that they have no part in changing because that enables people to be assholes and allow them to fall back on the “well that’s just how this timeline is for me” lol. You can always change your future, we have control even some things we don’t have control over, we still have control over."

How Important Is Self Love?

"If you don’t love yourself, you can still love other people, but not perfectly. I think that you gotta love yourself so you know how to love other people"

What Do You Think Are 3 Of The Most Important/Essential Things Every Human Should Have?

"Adaptability for one; you have to be able to adjust your comfort zone for a lot of things. I think that people get stuck in their ways & it screws them over in the long run. You gotta adapt to any situation that comes your way. The second would have to be knowing when to ask for help cause a lot of people get overwhelmed & we all have different sets of skills so we can decide. “Well I’m really good at this so let me help you with that & you can help me with what I’m not equipped to deal with” so if you only just ask for help, you’re gonna find yourself in a better situation. Take your pride out of it! Number three: You have to give in to love. I feel like so many people get held back on this weird cultural thing that there’s only one love we should seek out, that’s like the Agape love like “I need to be madly in love with you” & it’s the only love you talk about. But you should talk about Philio love, let people in your life know you love them; friends, family, you gotta let them know cause it gets crazy out here. (After experiencing a close friend who had no signs of health issues pass away) It made me realize you never know when you will lose people & I never really thought about that & when they died it made me realize I need to tell the people around me that I love them."

If You Could Leave One Lesson For The World What Would It Be?

"I would want people to know that you can learn from the things that you fear. You can learn a lot from your Shadow Self, people don’t do enough shadow work. People need to explore the bad qualities about themselves, come to terms with it, and resolve it. Then you’ve befriended your shadow!"

Why Is Expression So Important? "It's important because it coincides with identity. So to express yourself is to show who you are as a person. Without expression no one knows who you are."

What Activities Or Things Help You Learn To Be More Self Expressive & To Find Yourself/Get In Tuned With Yourself?

Definitely music, the way I dress, photography and art in general especially visual art is very important in my expression. Especially when I got older coming into my own fashion sense made me feel more like me.

So For Those Who Are Having Trouble Finding Ways To Identify Themselves What Do You Suggest Them Try & Do To Get More In Touch With Themselves?

I would say to always follow your instincts because there's no rule of how to express yourself. Even stepping out of your comfort zone can take time but always make sure whatever it is feels right. When you're young its very easy to follow a crowd and do what they are doing but use that to learn who you are. Nothing is 100% original and you just have to do what feels right for you until you see who you are and what you actually like & make it your own.

What Benefits Do You Think Art Provides Society?

It has a big psychological component to it which is crazy cause I don't know why art is taken out of school programs or not given the funding it needs to have because we underestimate how much it's therapeutic; visual arts, music, drawing, photography, performing arts all of that creates an outlet for people to express themselves and I know we keep talking about expression (but its so important) yeah! Even emotionally, everyone goes through something and some people need an outlet because talking, people don't talk, so its very important to humanity in general.

What Do You Think Are Some Essentials To Being Happy?

Self love; knowing yourself and being honest with even the negative parts of yourself, recognizing your toxicity towards others and to yourself & being truthful with that. Self love can be very hard & a tough thing to go through cause its easy to not acknowledge anything in your life that's going wrong rather than really confronting it but that's the only way its going to get better.

What's One Thing You Would Want To Tell The World?

That it's okay to express negative emotions and it's okay to not be okay because I feel like everyone, especially with social media being a big thing, everyone wants to express that they are ok & I get it, not everyone wants to put their business online but its like everyone doesn't want to show the negative parts of themselves or acknowledge them or at least admit when they aren't okay. They don't want to feel like they're burdens and its OK! You can't want to always be happy if you choose to ignore the negative. //

And of course, do you have a Lesson for the World?

Life sucks, depression sucks, the world's not fair but at the end of the day you have to remember you are important to you.No one else can validate you but you & that's what true happiness is. There are billions of people on this earth & its easy to seem insignificant & you're never going to feel happy or important if you're basing it on those other people. -- #MoreWorkComingSoon#LessonsForTheWorld #LSB #MWCS

The first question of the day and introduction to L4TW goes to the beautiful ladies I spent my Saturday afternoon with at their first Boss Brunch here in Boston. We got to speak on issues we face in our community, how being women of color influences the world, work life, and networked within a refreshing environment as we met with other like-minded women in the Boston area.

All being from different backgrounds and careers, I asked: As a woman of color, what do they think this World needs more of?

Here is a part of the World, sharing Lessons for the World. .

"What we can offer the World as women of color is empathy. Collectively women throughout history have experienced so many things especially women of African descent but also women of other ethnic backgrounds. So if we could be more empathetic as human beings, towards each other I think we will be able to have a better World and a better community"

"I believe we just need to not be afraid to ask for help, find unity and love between families and even in the communities around us filled with multi-cultural backgrounds"

"This World needs more love. I think there's so much hate out there and it really gets overlooked, specifically in our community. It can be really hard to stay strong. It's more important that we need to tell each other that we love each other more. Love overpowers everything so we should spread more of that, The world in general would become such a better place "

"This World needs more of us people to stop and take a moment and being kind to each other. I think that's what going to help the World at first; to take a little time out of our day, going out of our way to say hi to people, smiling, waving, giving that human piece to it."

"The World needs a little bit more of an understanding of other people's situations and of realizing that everything may not be how it seems on the surface and that everybody is going through their own thing all the time. So to be more kind to each other will go a long way."

"Confidence. Acceptance. Self-care. Bravery."

"This World needs more of our magic when it comes to the fact that we can create, birth, and serve with our gifts. So allowing that to breathe in spaces that are afraid to receive that; it doesn't have to be about money or power, it can just purely be about existing to continue to live."

"More love. Definitely more love because if there was more love, there would be more unity and I think everything springs from love"

"This World needs more empathy. A lot of things can be solved by just simply thinking about what the other person is going through, what they are feeling, cause you never know what people are going through. I feel like you gain so much more understanding through trying to understand".

"Empathy. A symptom of Capitalism is lack of empathy and how institutions hurt people and how your impression is actually connected to someone who's experiencing that oppression overseas as well. I would also say respect, I know there's a lot happening right now in terms of being more accepting of how people identify and we need to understand we don't need to fully understand how someone is identifying, we just need to respect them by calling them by their chosen pronouns."

"The World needs a lot more empathy and compassion. I feel like a lot of individuals don't have the ability to put themselves in someone else's shoes and that can really make a difference. And when you're a creative making a big positive impact, I've noticed that's like the 2 driving factors for what drives me to do the work I want to do in the future."

"We all just need to realize that we're not all alone and that most of us are probably going through the same thing but we choose not to share and kind of figure "I can do this on my own". Especially women of color in particular always have to be the strong ones so in that sense we just really need to speak up more. I know that takes a lot for us to even do but once we do, we'll realize "Oh!" We can be more supportive and see we are all actually on the same page more than we think."

"We need more spaces where we can have conversations. Where people can actually say what they want to say without any consequences. Where people listen. We need more resources allocated, (reparations!), equality can be the answer but some people need more than others so those with a lot more can help distribute that in other means and ways to help the rest of the World out."

"More understanding and more communication. Often times we (as people, not just women of color) come into conversations thinking that we already know everything, which inhibits our ability to fully understand where another is coming from. Coming into conversations with an open-heart and open-mind could change everything. It's something that we all have to actively work towards and check ourselves on. Are we really listening? As women of color, our experiences inform and shape the worlds we live in. We need to speak on them. And if people aren't receptive to that, what do we really have?"
